Introduction
Wooded Peaks is situated in an area that is a unique paradise
which boasts
''audible'' silence, diverse bush and mountain scenery in an
unsurpassed
wilderness. It is one of the few remaining areas unspoilt by
pollution and over
population in South Africa. Despite its proximity to Gauteng,
there is no human
pressure on this protected region. Wooded Peaks can be
found in the
Welgevonden game reserve which is little touched by
civilisation, a wilderness
where nature reigns supreme amid the wild lands of the
Waterberg. Wooded
Peaks, with its ready accessibility and temperate
climate, healthy and free of
tropical disease, is uniquely structured for that back to nature
experience.
This
very private and exclusive reserve with its breathtaking
views and scenery will provide guests with a glimpse of how our
ancestors must have felt upon discovering the Waterberg. The true
beauty of the Welgevonden reserve lies in its tranquillity
and diversity, its pure sense of wilderness and its game viewing.
Among the wonders to be found on Welgevonden are the San (Bushmen) rock paintings which can be viewed at two locations on the
reserve. It has been said that our generation is probably the last
to have the opportunity of setting aside such protected natural
areas.

Wildlife at Wooded Peaks
Game drives are conducted by Xander, who is a
FGASA accredited guide, in an open game viewing vehicle. Bush walks
can also be arranged daily on request. The reserve is home
to Africa's "Big 5" as well as 350 different
species of birds and an interesting variety of fauna and flora, it's a
huge scenic
wilderness of 37, 000 hectares which provides sanctuary for all its
inhabitants. This ensures that finding the game remains a challenge
and that you are able to view inhabitants in their natural
environment. We have two game drives a day, the early morning drive

sometimes stretches beyond that, dependant on the viewing.
