Introduction
Lukimbi Safari Lodge is an exclusive lodge situated within the
Kruger National Park on the the banks of the Lwakahle River. This
private concession is the biggest in the southern section of the
Kruger National Park and spans over 15 000 hectares. The central
reception area and curio shop provide a breathtaking glimpse of the
beauty of the area, looking across the river towards an open plain. The
concept is to bring as much of the outside to the inside as possible, so
covered open decks flow into decorative internal areas.
The cool and spacious lounge overlooks the river and the open game
plains beyond. On rare cold evenings, a seat near the beautifully
decorated lounge fireplace is a great place to enjoy a glass of estate
wine. The dining room has a spectacular view over the river and the open
grassland.

Accommodation
at Lukimbi
The challenge was to build a lodge that would look unique
and artistic and
would reflect the surrounding bush, as well as the
spirit of African myths
and legends. This is a lodge with art, colour
and exciting furnishing, but at
the same time your eye is drawn outwards
to the beckoning bush beyond.
The openness of the architecture ensures
that you are aware of the bird
calls and
movements of the animals outside.
The height of the
lodge above the river provides a viewing point with a feeling
of safety.
The raised walkways provide guests with clear and easy access to
their
suites. Lukimbi is wheel chair friendly.

Facilities
& Activities at Lukimbi
With it's raised walkways
leading guests to 16 luxurious suites, all combining luxury and modern
African decor with stunning river views below. All suites are
air-conditioned, have fans, safes, mini-bars as well as tea and coffee
facilities. Private decks leading out towards the river provide the
ideal place to relax or enjoy bird spotting and game viewing in peace
and tranquillity.
Lukimbi has created a name for itself as one of the new
places to enjoy top cuisine. Part of the experience is the changing of
venues, so you may enjoy breakfast in the bush, lunch around the pool
and a glamorous candlelit dinner
on the wooden deck or you may enjoy a
meal in our amazing and mythical boma,
or perhaps our chefs may decide
to do something completely different.
As a safari lodge, our main activity is
pure
relaxation in exquisite natural surroundings and enjoying some bird spotting
and game viewing. Back at the lodge, guests can unwind at the beautiful
pool
featuring a waterfall dropping into a Jacuzzi cavern, before gently
flowing into
the main pool. A relaxing massage or beauty therapy can be
arranged, perhaps
after an invigorating workout at our gym, which is strategically placed so that
you don't miss out on the stunning scenery or game viewing.

The
library has a selection of books on conservation topics as well as light
holiday reading. Interesting talks on conservation and on the local
culture
are given regularly. A computer station is also available with internet and
e-mail facilities. Trips to places of interest outside the park can also
be
arranged, including visits to the local communities, helicopter
flights to
places of remarkable scenic beauty, there are also two golf
courses nearby,
where a game can always be easily arranged.

Wildlife at
Lukimbi
Wildlife, including Africa's Big 5, abound at Lukimbi.
The Kruger National Park is one of Southern Africa's most well known
conservation areas and National Parks. The opening up of private
concessions inside the Kruger National Park is a bold new concept
joining Private Enterprise and National Parks in a partnership to look
after guests who prefer to stay in more luxurious and individual camps
while enjoying the animal and bird viewing as well as the wilderness
experience to be found in the Kruger National Park.
Lukimbi's private roads inside the Kruger
National Park mean that you will rarely only come across lodge vehicles
on game drives. Our game drive Land Rovers take a maximum of 8 people in
total luxury and in radio contact to ensure the best sightings. Game
drives go out in the early morning and evening, but guests can also
choose to walk instead of drive, or do both. You will enjoy an
unforgettable experience with our highly qualified field guides and
trackers.
